Activa Travel News: NEW TSA RULES
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will implement the "Secure Flight Program" for all Airline tickets booked on or after May 1, 2009. Under this new rule, TSA will receive information for each passenger and will check it against their "No Fly" or "Selectee" lists and will transmit the results back to the airlines. Activa Travel will need to ask all travelers to provide us with the information so we may add it to your travel profile to ensure it will be transmitted to the airline when the reservation is made. Please expect our agents to ask for this information if we don't already have it in your profile. Waiting to provide this information at the airport could delay your check-in process. As always, Names must exactly match government ID. The following will be asked: First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, and Gender. Passport numbers and/or Drivers License Number are likely to be asked at a future date. Incorrect information could cause significant delays or cancellation of your travel plans. For additional information about the new standards, please visit www.tsa.com.
Activa Travel News: Luggage Fees
Increased fuel costs are causing airlines to delete more from the list of services that were once included or complementary. Many major carriers are now planning to charge $25 for a second piece of luggage, and some are even charging for the first piece. The new fees don't always apply to all destinations, so it's worth checking out before you check in!
